2010 CUAUV Team in front of Duffield Hall
Coming off our our previous victory and going into the 2009-2010 academic year, CUAUV retained most of its team, as only two members had graduated. We recruited heavily and welcomed nearly twenty new members to our team. Together we designed and built our new vehicle named Tachyon for research and competition.
Tachyon's first in-water test was April 11th, 2010, setting a new record for fastest completion of a one-year vehicle for CUAUV. We brought Tachyon, which had over 200 hours of in-water testing under its belt, to the AUVSI/ONR's 13th annual International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition. Tachyon performed very well in the competition, securing a first place finish and $6,000 for Cornell.
